No matter when you go, you’ll find so much to do.  The first step that you’ll probably want to take while on your vacation is to visit the Institute of Jamaica.  This natural history museum covers the entire known history of Jamaica, from the times of the Arawak Indians to the present.  Be prepared to learn about the side of Jamaica that people rarely see on television.  When you’ve finished taking in nearly all that you can take in regards to history, stop by the Bob Marley museum to study that man that put Jamaica on the map.  This museum is more of a tribute to the reggae superstar and it is housed inside the building that was his home.  It’s a great place to stop by if you’re a big fan of the music.

If you’re looking for a more serious tourist attraction in this beautiful city, stop by the Devon House.  A Venezuelan millionaire built this beautiful great house in 1889.  It is now home to a number of antiques and antique reproductions that are meant to give a tourist an idea of how people were living in Jamaica around the 1900’s.  It is one of Kingston’s biggest tourist attractions so be sure to get there early.  Tours happen every fifteen minutes.

Jamaica is known as a tropical paradise, so you might as well enjoy that aspect of Kingston.  Find a beach and relax for a day along the sandy shores.  If you’re looking for more relaxation than what one typically finds on a beach vacation, you can book some time at one of Kingston’s many spas.  The tourist industry is huge in Jamaica, which means that there are going to be plenty of people around who are well trained in the art of massage or anything else that you could want at a spa.

For those who are uncomfortable with the idea of a spa but who want to find different ways to relax in Jamaica, there are the Rockford Mineral Baths.  These natural springs showed up shortly after the earthquake of 1907.  When on your modern day vacation, you can relax in a whirlpool tub fed by the mineral waters.  You’ll have to call ahead to book this relaxing treat but it’s worth it.

No matter how you decide to spend your Jamaican vacation, you’ll find the people and spirit of Jamaica hard to resist.  Don’t forget that the Jamaicans are incredibly inventive.  They managed to create a bobsled team even though it doesn’t snow on their island.  Allow their welcoming spirit to take great hold of you as you enjoy this Caribbean paradise.
