Just decided to take the kids on their first big trip overseas?

If you are in the throes of planning an exciting trip to Central Florida with your family, be sure to visit some of the Florida theme parks listed in the paragraphs below. Let’s get started…

1) Walt Disney World

This one really does not need an introduction, but a post on this subject wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the 800-pound gorilla in the room.

Walt Disney World is the best known theme park resort on the planet, as it is the home of many popular Disney characters, as well as environments that pay homage to its countless films.

From the Magic Kingdom, which contains iconic attractions like the spinning teacups, The Big Country Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain, to the Animal Kingdom, which is known as one of the best conservation and zoological parks in the world, Walt Disney World has it all.

Budget at least four days for this place.

2) Universal Studios

Although Mickey Mouse casts a long shadow over Orlando, Universal Studios is another park that offers much for your traveling dollar.

Playing host to a wide slate of characters and environments drawn from the vast library of content to which Universal has the rights, chances are good that you will find an attraction or live show that will make your day out here memorable.

With Islands of Adventure patterned after the different lands that can be found in the Magic Kingdom, resort hotels on site, and the presence of a water park, it is an experience that strives to compete with Mickey and the Gang, and they have largely achieved that goal.

3) Kennedy Space Centre

Located not far from the eastern end of the Bee Line Expressway, the Kennedy Space Centre gives families on holiday a chance to learn about NASA’s activities in space.

Many exhibits focus on America’s many missions to the moon in the 20th century, as well as the many missions taken aboard the Space Shuttle and to the International Space Station.

Guided tours of various NASA assets are available, and if you are lucky, you may be able to view rocket launches from a dedicated viewing area.

4) Busch Gardens

Orlando doesn’t have a monopoly on fun in Central Florida, as those that go on a day trip to Tampa will discover. This gulf coast city is home to Busch Gardens, an amusement park known for its roller coasters, African themed architecture, and its collection of wildlife from that continent. Sponsored by the American beer company of the same name, there are plenty of venues to enjoy this iconic brew within the park as well.
